Oh, me, too. I generally try to give $5 for pizza delivery people, though I only see them for a couple of seconds. Someone also once taught me a trick that if you go to a new bar and tip very well the first drink or so, they'll put MUCH love in your drinks for the remainder of the evening.

For normal services, like pizza delivery and hair, restaurants, etc., I try to do 15%-20%, or just double the tax.

For things like subway, pita pit, coffee...where they have the tip jar thing out there but really...it's fast food, you know? I won't tip if I'm paying cash unless they're really awesome with their customer serviceyness. If I'm paying on a card, I almost always leave $1 if it's just me (the bill is like $5-$8) or I'll do work and figure it out if I'm paying for more than just me.

I feel bad now because delivery people I don't tip them much maybe like 3 or 4 bucks sometimes less. Waitstaff its 15% but if you are awesome I'll make up a number or go to $10. Tip gars in fast food places usually get no love or just the change less the are exceptional.

Lately however I've been getting terrible service except at my normal spots.

I'm a big tipper. I think people work hard on those jobs and don't get paid enough. I usually tip $5-10 on my hair dresser, depending on what all I'm having her do. Like $10 if it's a cut and dye job. Pizza peoples usually get $5. And at restaurants I do %15 of the ticket.

Pizza- usually only about 5%
Restaurants- usually 15, maybe 20 if it is excellent, sometimes 10 if things were really bad.
Hair- usually about 15%
places with tip jars- usually nothing because I agree- it is nearly fast food. I might tip if the place is really special or the people are overly friendly.

I was going to be a wiseacre and say "It depends on the toppings".

Anyways, for pizza, im usually a $2-3 person, with chinese food, too. It depends on the weather, time, etc if there's a bonus on top of that.

Hairdressers, well, I get my haircut and Im usually only out $15 for it, so I give $3-5 depending on how good and quick it goes.

Dining out, I always tip 20% unless its terrible, then I go down to 15% usually. I cant think of a time of 10% unless I got hot butter spilled on me. (Yes, it happened once.)

Is it because pizza in Miami generally takes an hour or more that we don't find ourselves tipping much? It is usually two bucks for the driver. Restaurants, I always over tip. It is just part of the cost that I factor in naturally when going out to eat. Whoever cuts my hair (its a different chick every time I go) usually gets $5. And if I pay cash at a Starbucks, or a Subway (really the only places I frequent that I can remember having a tip jar) they usually get the change.

I always do 20%, though sometimes for hairdressers I've been known to go higher. :) I love my hair peeps.
