shari
Aug. 1st, 2002 07:32 am (UTC)
yep!

Sharon = from Arabic: "Orchard".
Also the name of a geographical area in Israel, where many orange orchards/groves (whatever the proper term for a lot of orange trees is) were grown (still are in fact).

My name?
well... doing some research... since you asked.

If we went for actually etymological answer.

Reid Harris =

Ruddy (Red) Home Owner, Lion or Monkey (devised from many things)

Legit my dad is Richard and my Grandfather was Harry. They didn't want me to be a Jr. so they came up with something served as a tribute. I don't think the meanings of the names had any inkling to it at all.

marianne = a combination of mary and anne, meaning both bitter and full of grace. Also the personification of the French ideals of beauty and womanhood, serving as a sort of national identity.

Katherine, Katie = pure, natural, pure one.

Which is funny because I didn't do any drugs or drink for a long time, and I had no piercing cos I was allergic to metal and I thought it had to do with my namesake. No bodily pollutants and etc...

And then I go to find out it's not just my name, I was born in the Taurus III quadrant, and the ... what the fuck was it called... emotional settings of THOSE PEOPLE... is... "The Natural".

Maybe this is why I am always so desperate to change my hair colour.

Re:
lol... i sometimes think that my inadvertancy to relationships is because of the song i was named after "and aubrey was her name, a not so very ordinary girl or name..."... it's basically a song about a guy that fell in love with aubrey, but she couldn't fall in love back, basically, that she was destined to touch people, and then move onwards, always alone.

*sharpens ears*
I'll follow you elven ruler! where are we goin? ;-)

My name rocks because it means something different depending on what culture it's from, it seems like every language has my name in it :-D Different spellings of course...

Lianna (pronounced the same) means "to possess or wrap around tightly" in french
Liana is welsh for "with much affection"
and also I think this one I found from Latin meaning "youthful"
Liane is Chinese for "graceful as a willow",
Leah (root word so it still counts hehe) is gaelic for "poetic"
Leanna is an offshoot of Helen meaning "bright"
and I came across one meaning "soft hair" but I can't remember the spelling..
ANNND my favorite is 'of Arabic origin meaning "wild cow"'

LOL Wild cows rock ;-D

The most boring was "an old english blending of Lee and Anna" Lee meaning field and Anna meaning protected, so I guess I'm a fenced off field that belongs to Farmer Jones..
Whats funny is I feel like I'm all my name meanings, they all describe me :-) And I have soft hair hehe
