hrm.. could it be?!? COULD.. IT.. BEEE?!?

*tries not to curse things*

is lj actually working fine today?!?

as soon as i posted what i did yesterday, i read all the status thingies, and discovered that my cluster, the Ribeye cluster, was in fact snafued, and i tried FOR SO LONG to update my post or to post another one, but lj just wasn't havin it. nope nope.

so. the portland area now has a krispy kreme. it's been on the news every single news, since people started waiting at the doors, camping out, 48 hours before it opened. most on the pavement in front, but a few in their cars in the drive through.

*blink*

it's a good donut, but THAT freaking good?!?

we're also supposed to *gasp heard round the world* hit ONE HUNDRED DEGREES today. i'm quite thankful that mom got that a/c unit to sit in the window, boy howdee. *blinks at tv screen.* *erupts into laughter* how freaking hilarious. the weather man: "it's going to be hot today. so be careful. we're set to hit 100 degrees, and it will still be hot after the sun goes down. and dogs can't sweat. *pause* so their brains will fry. *pause* *shuffles feet* and it's going to be hot. *pause* and dogs don't like that. *continues with weather report* so, don't leave your dogs, your cats, or your senior citizens in the car."

sad about bob hope. in watching all the things shown about him on television, i wonder if he'll truly know how much joy he brought to the world. and here he is, thanking US for the memories. i also shudder to think that, at age 100, you pretty much have seen almost everyone you care for die along the way. *shudder*

yes.

thankfully, now that i'm working so much and have to actually BE outside for going to-ing and the coming home-ing from work, usually it's leaving early and returning late, so that i don't ahve to walk that 2 miles in 100 degrees!

Wouldn't be so bad...
Well, the heat wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't for the lack of air movement in my apartment. You see, I have windows facing east-west (so i get sun sun sun allllllll day long) and none north-south (which is how the wind blows here in the PacNW as you well know)....so I have hot, stale air in my room....ALL THE TIME. Fans help...kinda.

If only I could afford A/C. Maybe I'll just sleep in my car with the engine running. :P

Re: Wouldn't be so bad...
eek!

we have east/west facing windows, too, though a good chunk of our west wall is a big building of some sorts, so it helps.. KINDA...

Re: NO!!!
no freaking doubt about the weather (and the donuts, for that matter!).. there's been many instances where i see that PHOENIX, the seventh layer of HELL, is cooler than portland.

that's so not fair.

I forget who said it, but...hell, I want to live until I die.

hee hee!

although our 100 has much more humidity, which i'm finding that i'm SO not used to (especially getting to walk more than a mile in it home from the bus stop after work!)

but soonly winter will be here.

then i'll be whining about the cold.

i'm sure everyone is oh so excited.

Cuckoo for Krispy Kreme
I, too, was skeptical, as Massachusetts lacked a Krispy Kreme lo these many years. Then the first one opened about 5-6 weeks ago and they are that good. The fresh, hot donut given to you free when the production line (viewable through glass) is rolling (when the neon "hot fresh donuts" light is lit) is enough to hook you. Then you see the rest of the selection, and its basically goodnight Irene for your self-control. Ours is about 20-25 minutes but totally worth the drive for some stupid, tasty, donuts (and free hats). Donuts!

Yeah, people did that for weeks after they opened one up here. I don't see how waiitng in line all day can be worthwhile. I still haven't had one...S and my dad said they're pretty good, but not really anything special.

Aye. On the way to work yesterday, I was listening to NPR's tribute to him, and the bits they played with Hope and Bing Crosby trading zingers just cracked me up and made me want to see those bits and his movies as well.

i can not honestly say if they are that good or not. i have never had a donut that wasnt from krispy kreme, so i cant compare... i live less than an hour from winston salem which is where it all began. i felt stupid when i realized that they were not everywhere :(
