(no subject)

inspired by nothinganything, i popped in an old video tape that someone had sent me forever ago of a ton of Sloan videos, interviews, live performances, etc., all from about shortly after the release of OCTA up until immediately after the release of Navy Blues.

it's SO weird to see Sloan commercials.

and to see Sloan not only perform on awards shows, but to also WIN the awards for Artist of the Year and such things.

it's so amazing to me to see a band that is virtually unknown here in the states have such a GIGANTIC following up in Canada, including people SLEEPING OUTSIDE OF RECORD STORES for days to be one of the first 100 people to get Navy Blues upon release, and to get a ticket to a more personal concert. o_O

okay, i shouldn't talk TOO much, i mean, i DID use visiting my friend nicole as an excuse to go see them live in washington d.c., and DID take a weekend vacation to L.A. just for a CHANCE to see them live (wasn't guaranteed since we didn't have tickets, and it WAS sold out, but luckily, everyone was there (including Ben Stiller) to see the opening act, Phantom Planet, so the place virtually cleared out between sets and we got to go in anyway...)

but i think that's where i draw the line, maybe.

what have YOU done for your favoritest band?

endings and beginnings...

i left this morning, not knowing what i wanted to do in regards to my jobs, just knowing i was SO sick of working two jobs.

i come home tonight, with only one full time job and benefits.

rawk.

the manager at michaels, denise, went off on an evil tangent that had nothing to with my little quip i had made, making me feel like utter doo doo. i went in during my break and turned in my two weeks notice. it hurt and i almost cried doing so, but i felt it was something i HAD to do. each 5 hour shift feels like a lifetime, and i don't see myself moving any further in the company, nor wanting to, really.

i go next door to office max for my nighttime shift. the store manager corners me and tells me that the full time with benefits position is mine, should i want it, but i have to PROMISE to continue showing excellent employee-ship and continue setting standards for office max quality, blah di blah. i didn't have to even ask for it, which was AWESOME, and wonderful, cuz i wasn't sure exactly how to word it if i did. it had all been word of mouth as to what had happened, and tony the assistant manager had been following him all day, telling him to talk to me.

double rawk.

so as of june 2nd, i will only have one, full time job. granted, it's still retail, but it's $8 an hour, i'm good at what i do, and it doesn't take a lot of brains. i like working with the people i work with. i get benefits. every single friday will no longer be payday, but boo freaking hoo.

i'm happy with this for now.
