want you

(no subject)

I haven't been online for several days now - something I thought I could never do, ZOMG. So very much work, so very little sleep.

I finished reading Message in a Bottle last night. I hadn't really wanted to read it, but was urged by both my male roommates that it was a must. I've never been much for cheesy love stories. My brother told me that he cried TWICE while reading it. I was just thumbing along, minding my own business and rolling my eyes at the sheer contrived conversation between the two main characters... until I hit the big twist at the end. Yes, I cried. I didn't just CRY, I sobbed as if I was five and had watched my favorite dolly taken from me and fed to the neighborhood Dog of Evil. Stupid freaking book. I saw another book by him in Barnes & Noble today and decided that I would boycot anything by Nicholas Sparks from this day forward. He got me once with The Notebook movie, and again with the stupid bottle book. Jerkhead.

Dumb, dumb, dumb.

I've since headed back to the world of Narnia, where things are much simpler. I'm wishing I would have read these books when I was a preteen, not 33. They're still great fun, though.

Brother and I saw Mamma Mia! after work today. There were other things I had wanted to see (*cough*Batman*ahem*) but it was still fun. I hated it at first, until... I discovered that watching musicals can sometimes be like watching Shakespearian movies. You don't "get it" until halfway through the movie, when the language they're using clicks. For him, it was during "Dancing Queen", for me, during the part where all the half nekkid boys were dancing on the pier in flippers.

Coworker Lori loaned me Batman Begins and Hellboy so I can get my comic book nerdery on. (I've never seen either.) I still have Season 2 and 3 of The Office to finish, and a whole buncha Buffy and Angel and Dead Like Me. If that has not convinced you of my geekery, I shall add the fact that Final Fantasy IV will be refurbished and re-released on the DS in a few days. Oh, how I need to find my charger!!

Instead of having a pajama day tomorrow, I will be working an open to close shift for a coworker so that she can go to her daughter's ball game.
