i've been sick.

i couldn't get into the doctor's until this morning.

the doctor wouldn't write me a note for before today, which means one thing:

i am now unemployed.

i have no job.

i don't know what the fuck i'm going to do.

fuck.

it's kinda a long story, something involving poor judgement in the past, smurfs, and a glossy suitcase, i think, but basically, we're on a point system, and if i didn't get doc's notes to cover all the days i've missed this week, which i didn't, that would bring me over the edge of the no no spot of the point system.

That's terrible :-( They can't fire you for going to the doctor, you've done so much work for them...
I think they laid you off unlawfully

i concur with the above comments. you CAN'T be fired. that's gotta be illegal...

All depends on state laws reguarding employment. I was fired for taking a sick day because I was on percocet due to an impacted, infected wisdom tooth that was surgically removed three days later. Perfectly legal, if totally fucked up -- I got all my unemployment, but I even had to fight for that.

i'm sorry you're sick. hope you feel better really soon.

i hope that if you call and explain to your employer what happened, and how sick you were, and couldn't get to the doctor until today, etc, they will understand.

also, why won't the doctor give you a note for yesterday?? that's a bunch of shit too.

*shrug* i guess i got spoiled with my last two doctors, who would always say "you need a note for before today? how many more days do you think you need to stay out?"

i would still have that doctor, if my freaking company hadn't changed our medical policy.

at least, if i have to work somewhere else, maybe the new place's policy will let me go back to my old clinic again.

i don't know how it works everywhere, but here (tx) if you file for unemployment you're almost guaranteed to get it. even if they (the employer) contests it, you stick to your guns. it's not always a lot of dough, but it's paying my rent.

on another, related note: **hug**

that was my plan, if things didn't work out there, file for unemployment and hit a few temp agencies. at least, with my varied background, i'm not just limited to the travel industry, which is a GREAT thing, with the travel economy the way it is....

Sorry to hear about that.
Did you call Diana and tell her?
File for unemployment tomorrow and start looking for another job. :~(

Does the doctor know why you have been sick lately?

Re:
the doctor says that it's most likely caused by stress and anxiety, but ran tests for anemia and mono anyway. she's much like my second to last doctor, only dr. fisher liked to blame everything on my allergies (although dr. cooper today blamed it on both stress and allergies...)

i just posted about my convo with dana... we'll find out tomorrow what happens.

i like your icon, btw.

Oh baby... :(

Been there, done that, still looking for a new job because of it.

If you have in fact officially lost your job -- file for unemployment immediately and make sure to explain the entire situation as clearly as possible to them -- it turned out with me that my company lied about me so extremely that I ended up sitting on the phone with the woman from unemployment in shocked silence for almost two minutes. They got one thing right: I hadn't finished a project on time. Because it was due the day I was out sick. I finished it the next morning, before my boss arrived at work, even knowing that I was being let go.

*hugs* hang in there honey, if you need to vent or something, lemme know...I can't help w/money, since I have none myself, but if there's anything else I can do... Love you hon.

Re:
i've had something like that happen to me, back when i worked in property management. i had a manager that had a huge project to do and and had plans with her boyfriend so i got stuck with the project, with inadequate time, and not NEAR enough of the materials i needed.

i got canned - and evicted, because i lived there, too - right after she got back, as i knew i would. she had her head so far up the district managers ass, that even had i brought pie charts and bar graphs to the district office of things i had done for them, it wouldn't have helped, just given them something else to laugh about when they went shopping together...

It really bugs me...
It seems like every time the economy goes to the dumper, companies see that as an excuse to start treating their workers like crap..

I hope they go out of business it would serve them right..

lol - it was even worse, though, the monday after 9/11 last year, 40 employees got the boot...

ah, well, we'll see how things pan out...

we'll do the only thing we can do, get it sorted out. and if you have lost your job, we;ll find you another one fast as we can.

you'll be fine. this is an explainable circumstance. it's not your responsibility to actually make teh doctor write the note, so thus it's not your fault if he didn't. right?

pretty much. i'm content (and a bit egotistical) in the fact that i can find another job easily (although prolly not one that pays close to what i'm making there..), since i've worked in law firms, in property management, in music, and have 12 years customer service/sales experience....

lol.. i just succeeded in making myself sound older ;)

Wow. Well, I know I'm getting in on this a little late, but...and I kinda doubt this, but do you have a client base at all? I know you won't have one from IG, really, but a previous one you could service? My mentor is doing a 'rent a desk' thing, for lack of a better way of putting it (because you can do it all from home and don't HAVE to rent a desk in her office) if you do. It's a good way of staying afloat if you do happen to have a client base of your own. Lemme know - 602-684-9754 is my cell.

Michael

P.S. - I'm really really sorry to hear that this happened to you.
