for those that wish to see what lies out the front door (before i have other pics to post), check out these posts from vancouverwa:

some amazing pictures that show exactly how thick the ice is over everything. quite beautiful, is it not?

they say that it's inevitable that we are hit with a gigantic flood after this melts (especially since it is melting as it rains..), that it will be as bad as the 1996 floods, whatever they were.

my roommate finds it hilarious that i move from arizona of all places, and find myself smack dab in the middle of the worst winter in YEEEEEEAAARS.

so now you get to see what's been crippling the portland area for the entire week.

one of my coworkers at office max told me that it's the worst driving conditions he's ever driven in, when he moved here from michigan.

Yeah, I heard the PNW just..shut down after all that ice and snow you guys just had. Friend of mine works for the government in Seattle, and they just told him to stay home.

You know it's bad when the beaurocratic machine takes a day or two off..

yup. everything was shut down, save for the people that work on electrical poles (seeing as 48,000 or so of people were without power for a lot of the storm), tow trucks, and apparantly Target.

Target always stays open, I don't get it!

Valentine's Day '03 we were stranded in Des Moines, on our way to Chicago. There was sixteen inches of snow on the ground..everywhere was closed, the mall was closed..Target stayed open.

this is why i laughed incredibly when, on the first day of the massive storm, when the district manager for michaels actually said 'well, YOU can close, but only if TARGET closes.'

erm, yeah. not only is that ridiculous, but the genre of people that shop at target vs. michaels is a TAD different.

I mean...

I'm wearing short sleeves, turkey!!!

Man. I'm gonna get kicked off of your friends section after my very first post, aren't I?

Well, at least I'm sorta sick and working anyway. I'm gonna go see the new Tim Burton movie this weekend, I think. Did you see Kill Bill?

Best action movie I've ever seen in a theatre...

headache. girlfriend approaches with car, food, and drugs. must depart.

Hope you're still singing! I haven't done much karaoke, but I do sing with my band...it's fun. And exciting.

Tip for staying warm: Stretch up and put your feet into your arm pits. Aaaaahhhhh........

the first time I went to Florida, they were hit with a record heat wave. the irony is, of course, sickening. :P

we did have an ice storm that bad once here. I was pretty young and don't remember most specifics except for the sound the huge tree out back made when it split down the middle. we didn't have nearly that much snow, though.

Yes, ice is much, much worse than snow for driving. 'Tis pretty though.
