hooray for work.

finished reading Elven Star by Weis and Hickman. somehow, i ended up reading book 4 first, then book 3, then book 2. so Haplo is becoming more and more evil and blindsided by hatred instead of slowly becoming nicer and more compassionate.

went to Boxxes last night for dollar drink night. taco bell never tasted so good.

so don't want to go to work, but at least the renovation is SUPPOSED to be over. we'll see.

That is a cool series. Havent read it in a while though.

i read it when i was in my mid-teens, if i remember correctly, and would tell people for YEARS that it was my favoritest book series that i had EVER read...

... though until now, 12 or so years later, i'm finally picking it up for the 2nd time. i had tried reading Dragon Wing, but i got bored with it quickly. i guess i've discovered now that the way to do it is to start in the middle and work out in layers ;)

i find the not reading funny, though, because there's many OTHER series that i've read a trillion times, although they hadn't meant as much to me, i.e. the Shannara books, Tad William's Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn trilogy, the Riftwar Saga, etc.

We loves the Riftwar my pressious..we loves it...

yes, we does.

i wish i had all my books up here with me from phoenix, because i would most likely reread that series next, or maybe back to the cheese-meister Dragonlance novels (though only ones written by Weis/Hickman)...

in the case of the Death Gate Cycle and some of the others that i've been massively craving to read, i've just gone out and rebought them. i figured that should i ever get the rest of my books back, i can just give the doubles to my brother...

Heh, you have good taste in dragonlance books..

Heh doubles are good. You can give them to friends that way. I just got a friend started on Spider Robinson that way..

i had inadvertantly ended up with some doubles of the deathgate cycle, and i had wanted to get my friend peyton into them. the year before, i had given him the first 3 of the 4 scions of shannara books, so i had wanted to keep in tradition for the gifts.

i accidentally gave him the ones i had only one of instead of two ;)

i need to rebuild mine. i loaned all my books to my friend meredith when i moved up here, but she intermingled them all with hers, and can't remember which ones are mine. so other than a few that i may pick up if i ever go to visit, i figured id just give them to her as a wedding present.

saves on shipping and stress that way.

You are more generous than I ;)

LIFT? PACK?!? why on earth would i want to do THAT?!?!
i think it's sheer laziness more than anything. i mean, books are freaking HEAVY, and would either be a total bitch to bring back with me, or would cost 7289347298 dollars to ship.

and with the difference in income that i have here, it keeps me a bit more.. focused on what i'm reading, and a bit more choosy regarding what i run out and buy!
