I was just watching a comic talk about how he used to work at Burger King. so, for some reason, it motivated me to name the jobs i've held in my lifetime:

Longview School District Print Center (1 year)
Wendy's (1 year)
various jobs in job corps, including the student store, the gym cage, and the art room
Imaginarium in Minnesota (a toy store that specializes in learning toys)
Warner Bros. Studio Store in Minnesota (where i got to escort Tweety, of all people.)
United Airlines (reservationist) in Virginia (4 months)
Waitress at a Italian Restaurant also in Virginia (for 3 days)
Burger King in Arizona
Hollywood Video (complete with cumberbund, bowtie and dress shoes)
Bookkeeper and Head Leasing Agent at Northern Point Apartments
Assistant Manager of Palm Aire Apartments (ooh do i have stories!)
Head Leasing Agent at Maya Linda Apartments
Wal*Mart again (part time)
Karaoke Host
Receptionist at a Law Firm
I.C.E. Gallery as a Travel Agent for mainly cruises
Collections Agent (1 week. i realized i had a soul.)
Michaels in Washington
Office Max

and that's all. at least i can say i have a wide spectrum of background experience ;)

I thought about putting a list of all the jobs I've had in my LJ but the fact that I quit several good ones for stupid reasons would probably make me slit my wrists.

i look back on my list and think that, too, though there were 3 in a row that i feel that i was fired or forced to quit from for stupid reasons (taking the fall for a manager that couldn't do her job, not being best friends with the district manager and the assistant manager over me blaming the staff for her shortcomings - we were all let go, and then one of the lawyers was beyond bipolar and gave me an impossible job to do in an insanely small amount of time and told me i was worthless because i wouldn't stay over 12 hours a day to get it accomplished..)

part of me is really sorry i quit the ice gallery, after 3 1/2 years of servitude. but i'm here for a reason - not to mention that most days i have WAY more fun working in retail than i ever did there...

One of the best jobs I ever had in my entire life was in retail (working at a record store, natch). Had I been able to move out of my parents' house on what they were paying me (without having to become a 60-75 hour a week supervisor or manager), I'd still be there today.

wow, i would so kill for a discount at a place like that! granted, 10% isn't bad (or a whopping 5% off of anything electronics related - which ALMOST covers the tax...), and when i first started working there, we didn't get a discount at all, so I suppose in that respect, I'm thankful.

Silly money, anyway.

Ice Gallery kinda had issues though from what I remember, lots of OBNOXIOUS people. It is GREAT not to deal with politics, I love the lack of office politics where I am now.

oooh yes. i don't know what i was so freaking nostalgic over, other than a couple of the coworkers: in reading all of my posts that I had made during that time, it's amazing that I was stubborn enough to stay as long as I did...

when things get like that though, you almost start getting used to being mistreated. I don't know how I lasted 6 months even at that tea parlor. Granted there were a few nice people but the people right above me were awful. I always thought I deserved it though so it wasn't until I got a job where everyone's sweet that I know I wasn't a bad enough employee to deserve treatment like that.
I hate it when I think I deserve things because I get myself in sticky situations..then one day I wake up and realize I don't, put my foot down and ...something other than hilarity ensues :-D

but sometimes hilarity can ensue in retrospect? that's what i find.

i also find that things always have a tendency to work out. funny how that happens.

I totally agree with you, had I not had every little bump along the road, I wouldn't be where I'm at now. I love my workplace.
When they foudn my teapot today, they were so happy, I wasn't even in the kitchen and the IT guy was all "Leanna!! Come, come! Sandy found your pot!" eheh our IT guy rocks

it's so exciting when you have your own little secret service at work, yay!

there's quite a few on that list that i was fired from because i was too timid to stand my ground, which makes me bonk my head in frustration. granted, everything seemed to work out in the end, so...
