Nov. 15th, 2004

i'm so FUCKING PISSED OFF, that i'm crying.

i'm sure that PART of it comes from PMS and the fact that i'm set to bleed any fucking day now.

the cat broke my playstation.

yes.

THE FUCKING CAT BROKE MY FUCKING PS2.

three YEARS of playing down the fucking tube. no, scratch that. probably about FIVE years of playing. she attacked my leg, i pushed her off the chair, she bolted and cought the controller cord and pulled it off of the t.v.

it landed on my ps1 memory card, the one with the YEEEARS of playing anything and everything from final fantasy 4 right on up to my almost finished game of ff8, my game plus features from ff6 and chrono cross. EVERYTHING. it shattered. FREAKING SHATTERED.... INSIDE of the slot that holds it. the slot is now stuffed FULL of broken plastic.

actually, when did playstation come out? my brother got that same memory card when he got his first playstation. so,yeah. that many fucking years of saved playing. FUCKING YEEEEARS.

but, miraculously, it continued playing ffx-2. i'm in the last dungeon, oh so very close to finishing the game. so, already more angry than i can remember being in FOREVER, i figure that it's solvable because i can still vent my anger out and feel better by finishing my game. i carefully picked up my ps2 and placed it back on top of the television and went to play. the very first random battle? screen went black and never came back. the drawer won't open. it will turn on, but not play anything.

FUCK.

i also got that when the ps2's FIRST came out, meaning that in the span of a nanosecond, i had not only YEARS of game play down the freaking drain, but also about $400. just like... *snaps* that.

because of the fucking cat.

i'm so freaking... angry... i feel like throwing her... i won't though. the whole *waves hand in the air* love for animals thing. not to freaking mention that their attention span is that of a dead fish, meaning she would never know what the hell i was punishing her for, anyway.

the drawer will not open, so it's holding my game for ransom, too. thankfully all the info on my ps2 memory card is FINE, but i think i would almost rather have sacrificed that to save the other. i mean, REALLY. i only own 4 ps2 games, and TRILLIONS of ps1.

i broke the door off of the front trying to get into the drawer to get my game. it still won't fork Yuna, Rikku, and Paine over.

i'll show IT some pain(e).

doesn't help that i'm still sick, i was looking so forward to sitting here in my pajamas and doing nothing but drinking hot tea and defeating evil whilst still gasping for air through hurting lungs.

NOW what.?!?

Cats and dogs are so good at doing stuff like that. My ex had just bought a $400 glass hookah, smoked out of it once, left it on the coffee table while he went out to smoke a cigarette and came back in to find his gf's dog had knocked it off the table and it had shattered all over the floor.

egad, i would KILL.

looking back, i chuckle at how worked up over the whole situation, as since i got it fixed, i've barely touched the thing, other than to watch the very occasional dvd. maybe the fact that i have to start every single one of my ps1 games over completely is too daunting for me?

dayum that sucks.... I don't even want to try to imagine what could happen to me that would be losing as much time/energy. :-(

although, it sort of worked out for me, as since i would have to start every single one of my games over completely, i haven't wanted to play it at all, especially since all of the games that i DID have a memory card for suddenly came up missing. maybe that's God's way of telling me i need to do something else with my life ;)

it basically attacked or ran by the controller cord and pulled it off of the top of the tv.

i'm not as bitter as i used to be, as long as i don't think about it TOO much ;)

NONE of this would've happened without the leg attack... get the cat spayed and declawed already. It may be an expense you can't handle.... but now it sounds like it just cost you more than IT would've cost!

On the other side of things, yes it sucks...
Hell, I didn't even know PS2 could read PS1 memory cards though.

Cats will still play even if they are fixed.

AND, declawing is NOT good for cats at ALL.

Would you like the tips of your fingers cut off? That's basically what it is. Do some research and you'll see.

The best thing to do is trim.

if nothing else, the fact that i had to start everything over has helped me to not spend so much time playing the games ;) and now that i'm not completely absorbed in games online, either, it's sort of helping me to try to get a hold on my life more and not spend all of my time doing frivilous things that don't amount to squat in the big picture, anyway.

though it's generally ended up with my just being bored and unmotivated, so it's not like it's been overly beneficial or anything..... yet.

:-( I'm sorry
My cat repeatedly knocked OFF the bookshelf an 80 dollar bookend I had gotten for free from a fluke (but really treasured) until finally it broke..so now even though it's glued, it looks ugly, and I'd have to pay 80 bucks to get one that looks nice and she'd probably break it again. Animals are really good at breaking things and it's even more frustrating because she broke it while doing something nasty to you. So now you have claw marks on your leg and a broken ps2.
I feel so bad for you :-(

oops forgot to change my icon
I've accidentally gotten into the habit of not changing my default for serious posts.

Re: oops forgot to change my icon
hee hee! i had recently changed my default to my grinning Zim, but then ended up with the same problem, so i switched it back to something a bit more neutral. like dib with headphones. he could be concerned. he could be thinking. he could be looking at a funny cloud. he could be trying to remember if he changed his underwear this morning.

YA JUST DON'T KNOW.

i'm so so so so very sorry that words can't express it. i've been there and my friendliness torward animals was quickly replaced with thoughts of wondering if cat or dog tastes decent. (this was back when i was vegimatarian!)

i have a ps1 sitting around somewhere, if it still works i'd be willing to pass it on to you. i know it doesn't help with the memory card and that's the worst part. *hug*

aww, well thank you for your well wishes! i thankfully got the ps2 fixed, though the ps1 card is worthless now. it all works out in the end, it does!

You have my sincere feelings of sorrow. For me, playing games provides a sense of escape, it's how I de-stress from the real world. If I lost all of my saved games I would be .. disheartened is too weak a word.

My suggestion is to distract yourself with something else for a while until you don't feel like you just did this with your PS2 games. There are some great PC games that are reasonably priced out there.

Baldur's Gate was a lot of fun with great voice acting.
Planescape's Torment was also a must-play in my book.

thanks for your emotional support during my time of loss ;)

it all works out in the end, i suppose. i play my ps2 less, so i have time to do other things. though i havent' put all that extra time to use at all yet, hopefully soon!

Aww man I'm sorry. I feel your pain - my rabbit (RIP, Fudge) did the same kind of thing once, and he destroyed my games as well in the process. I wanted to pull his cute little tail off. Grr.

... I didn't though, don't worry. Still, it took me ages to forgive him. lol. You will love your cat again too. :)

maybe it was training for if i ever have children? i hear that once you have offspring, suddenly all of your most cherished belongings are up for destroy. and learning to not give into the anger NOW, by throwing the offending person against the wall with all of my might, it's a healthy lesson for the future?

or something like that.

Damn, I have never thought about this aspect of pet ownership before.
This may sound lame but I am willing to send you a buck or two so you can start working on getting a replacement.

awww, thankees hun :) hee hee, that would be funny to set up a paypal account for times like those that i need monetary support.

it's funny, i joke all the time about having people help me with stuff like that, but then i feel INSANELY guilty and weird if they do.

Dood, I'm sorry. That's a huge, irreplaceable loss. When my old IBM 80-88 refused to restart after being off for a semester at college, I lost 4 years of poems and stories, as well as the beginning of a novel. I was crushed. Nothing could be recovered. NOTHING.

I know the helplessness you feel, and I hope you feel better. :)

Ugh. The cat would so become an outside cat after something like that. That or it's be on the short list for spaying/neutering and declawing. We've had almost all of our indoor cats declawed and the property damage was greatly reduced with no ill effect on the cat.

Back when I actively played my PS, I had a little thingy for the computer that I could use to copy the saved games off as files for backup, it sits currently in a old electronics pile, I'd send it to you but it won't do you much good now. Did the IC board get busted up or just the plastic casing? If it was just the casing I can probably fix it or otherwise extract the data for you?
aubkabob
Jun. 9th, 2005 06:48 pm (UTC)
the board itself seems to be in good condition, just the plastic casing was shattered. since it was one of the complex ones that had like 15 different channels and thusly had a bit more to it electronically than your standard plug n play ones....

I had a pet rat that once chewed the wires on my headphone cable. I was listening to music, not really watching the rat, when the sound dropped out suddenly on one channel. It was then that I discovered that the rat had chewed the wire. I was pissed. And these were expensive headphones too. I had to have the wires spliced back together.
