nothing like vh1 classic that brings it aaaallll back.

they just do NOT make fabulous videos anymore, like "Love is a Battlefield" and Laura Brannigan's "Self Control".

I still say all my friends and I should learn a synchronized dance to use at random times. A jerk touches me funny in a bar? I signal to all my friends, shove the perpetrator away, as we all commence with bootay shaking. It's a good idea, I say.

I also got to see Duran Duran's "Ordinary World", which brought me WAY back. *wistful sigh*

And I get a kick out of seeing all these videos they play with older bands, like Three Dog Night and Yes and Styx, performing live recently, while they show videos of how they all looked back in The Day. I also get a kick out of the fact that one of the singers of TDN looks just like my store manager.

Actually, that kind of creeps me out, actually.

Anyhoo. Accomplished nothing on my day off, per usual. GO ME! Though I DID finally get to see how they worked Wade into disappearing on Sliders. Here's my synopsis for those that hadn't seen it:

First episode:

All: Let's get Rickman! He has a timer to get us all to our home world!
*they grab the timer and run away from him*
*they hit the -on- button to form the vortex to their home world*
*Rickman catches up*
Quinn: I won't leave you, Maggie! *shoves Wade and Rembrant into vortex.. it closes*
*Rickman runs off a cliff, Quinn and Maggie run away and slide somewhere else and discover it's not the home world*

Next episode:

*Quinn and Maggie (who now has long black hair) complain about sliding for 3 months*
*slide into homeworld*
*discover Kromaggs have taken over*
*save Rembrant from the dungeons*
Quinn: where's Wade?
Rembrant: dunno! Let's leave without finding out!
*Quinn's captured, as he always is*
Kromag: Wade's on another Earth! She's a-breeding!
Quinn: Aww, man.
*Qunn's rescued after he conveniently discovers he was adopted*
Rembrant and Maggie: What about Wade?
Quinn: Who cares? I have a BROTHER! Let's go find him, instead!
*Wade is never mentioned again*

And in case you didn't know, the above scenes were supposed to be done with muppets.

anyhoo. running late. SURPRIIISE!

thank you!
I've been wondering for the longest where in the flying monkey hell Wade went on Sliders. She, and about 3 other characters were written outta the show with either a flimsly plotline or a ridiculous occurence. John-Rhyies Davies is why I watched the show, and he just up and "got left on a planet," or something stupid like that. Then, Jerry and Charlie O'Connel "merged" or something incredibly inane and thus the two of them were written off.

Seriously, I loved Sliders, more than the averge show, but near the end...like right after Arturo got written off, it became unwatchable pap. When Quinn (o'Connel) got written off, it REALLY should've gone off the air.
Oh, and I'm staring a "We don't like Kerri Whurer" fan club, you wanna join?

Re: thank you!
Well, no, Rickman shot him, actually. But I think Quinn et al didn't know about that. Don't remember too well.

I loved John Rhys-Davies on there... plus I'm a big Who fan, so when I heard that Roger Daltrey was going to be on (original Rickman), I wasn't just thrilled... I tried to get myself to the Mission Inn in Riverside where it was filmed (I lived nearby). Was I ever upset that his part, small though it was, heralded the end of it all...

Though considering the way the series was heading, I can well understand if Sabrina Lloyd wanted out, not to mention the illustrious John. :/

Re: thank you!
So, did they ever get home. If you don't want to post the spoiler here I invite you to post it on my own LJ in a comment. I've always been curious as to whether or not things ended up well, mainly because I stopped caring when the O'Connels [er..."quinns"] disappeared.

Re: thank you!
Y'know, I watched a couple episodes after it went to the Sci-Fi channel, but all in all, they were just so bad that I couldn't continue. So I really don't know. o_O*

Re: thank you!
sadly, i ended up watching almost all of the episodes ever, no matter HOW horrible they were (and they kept getting worse, and worse..) i just posted about their 'getting home' to the person that responded to you...

the very last episode ever involved remmy being sent .. somewhere.. and they think he died, but they weren't sure. the acting was the worst i think i've ever seen.

Re: thank you!
i think that eventually, they DID get home, however they discovered once they got there that it had been overrun by the kromags (sic)... LOL and quinn found his mother in a war camp type thing, where she informed him that she was only his FOSTER mother, that his real parents came from another dimension, too, and that he had a BROTHER.

yeah. far fetched, but that's how it went ;)

Re: thank you!
lol i can almost envision them looking at the script and going "WTF, MATE?!?" and getting on the phones with their agents to see what else they can get them..

Re: thank you!
Either that, or trying to get new writers... I swear, whoever wrote for that show must have been the producer's kid or something.

"pspspspsss... dwarf.... new zealand... sign me up!"

wouldn'ta been so hot for that if he'd known he was allergic to that glue, huh? *snarf*

The first part of your post was SO fucking funny! And you're right, they don't make good videos anymore.

so very very true. i mean, granted, they CAN make some pretty cool videos with the technology they have nowadays.

ooh, that reminded me that i wanted to find some supergrass videos. BEST videos ever, i promise.

I think the only reason that I kept watching Sliders after they killed them off was hopeing that they would return. They way they got rid of people was so laughable that I was thinking "hey can't really be gone" "The'll be back like next show or two" "next season" "hey where is the show?" LOL

thankfully, i watched it obsessively up until colin joined the cast, at which point i got massive sliders burnout, because the plot lines became so ridiculous, i couldn't bear to watch anymore. maybe one day down the road, i shall download all of them so that i can watch them fully, as i'm certain i missed a few episodes here and there, but as of right now?

i'm just thankful that i would let the vcr record later than when sliders is on, because that's what helped me to begin wholly liking sg1.

I have no more SG1 or Slider because of no more Sci-Fi channel :( maybe if I get to stay here I'll petiton to beable to have Sat, because Digital cable is just too much and too... not so great for that high price.

we just got digital again, though i've almost never watched the sci fi channel. i have no idea what's going on with bsg, and i want to be able to watch all the episodes before i delve into season three.

it makes me sad that i've already watched every single sg1 episode that will ever mean the world to me anymore!

Yeah that is ture, I remember when I had just reall got into a hugh SG1 kick having being off work for so long and having the time to look, when they came on SciFi I was scared but excited. I think the first two SciFi seasons they seemed to be under just about thier same control but that changed quick and I stared to notice if I didn't care if I missed a show or two. I will miss it.

I still need to get around to memorizing "Thriller."

me, too. though i want to say that i DID have it memorized at one time. i remember my mother getting that album right around the time that i had formed a fascination with laying on the livingroom floor with the album liner notes and reading along with the lyrics.

actually, hell, i think i have ALWAYS had that fascination!

There's something about Ordinary World that always haunts me when I listen to it.

meeee, too.

one of the first times that i really REALLY LISTENED to it, lyrics and all, was when i had come home to visit from job corps. my friend joe and i were driving around longview (this is obviously when i still had a permanent address up here in washington state). he was trying to talk me into coming home because he missed me, and i was at such a turning point in my life, trying to decide if i should come home, if i should go to advanced training, or whatever. especially the lines "what is happening to it all, crazy some'll say...where is the life that i recognize.. gone away" and the chorus struck a major chord. the entire fiber of my being screamed that i needed to stay away from longview, as much as i missed my friends and my family.. so i did. i took it as a sign that i needed to find my own ordinary world, that in order to do this, i could only move forward, you can never go home type thing.

Man, I love older music too, like 80's music! Some of those 80's videos are great! I love Duran Duran, they're one of my favorites. "Ordinary World" is a great song!

I opened my Duran Duran greatest hits CD the other day and realized the case was empty. I can't find it anywhere, and I'd be pissed if I had the energy.

I didn't see many sliders (don't really watch TV), but I like the idea of it being done with muppets.
