... and came home with the freaking WORLD.
random note, i briefly met Peter Buck from R.E.M. Apparantly, he's in The Minus Five, who opened for Sloan.
back to my world bringing homing. first of all, i was thriiiiiiiilled with having a REEEEAL ticket stub with Sloan's actual name on it. Those of you that know me, i mean REALLY know me, know that i have this... odd... obsession... with keeping every single ticket stub I've ever gotten. Dunno why, but i simply must, starting with the ticket stub to Aladdin when I took my brother to go see it for his birthday. (yes, jess, i still have it somewhere....)
at the end of "sensory deprivation", chris threw a drumstick out, and i caught it. i never catch anything!
we were also in THEE BEST POSSIBLE freaking place in the WORLD, they had scootched the monitors out of the way so that chris could come do his little kicks and stuff, and we were right there... i thought several times that he would step on my hands or belt me in the face with his bass, it was that close.
after the show, my brother was pouting about wanting a set list, so i batted my eyelashes at a roadie and got him one.
afterwards, we had wanted to mill around to possibly say howdee to the boys afterwards, and while we waited for the crowds to dispurse, i went over to the merchandising table. I always DID want a sloan shirt, and it's great for helping to support the band. i picked me up a little green shirt that says simply "Sloan".
well, in the process, i also bought an Action Pact hat for Jess, action pact on vinyl, Navy Blues, Between the Bridges, Pretty Together, and Action Pact on cd. The guy selling the stuff couldn't believe i actually wanted all of that, so he also threw in a hand full of bumper stickers and this little number. and yes, it's the deluxe version with the dvd stuff: 14 videos, 14 rare tv appearances and behind the scenes schtuff.
rawk. i hadn't planned on getting their greatest hits, since.. well, i already have them all...
well, HAD them all, hence the big cd purchase. why, you ask?
well, every single sloan cd i had owned, other than Smeared and Peppermint and my regular copy of Twice Removed were all stolen out of my Jeep, way back when it had been broken into. I still hadn't replaced them officially, which I had so wanted to do, and I hadn't got Action Pact at all (well, not the American Release with the two bonus tracks, that is...). The cd's there were only $10 each, which is SO much less than I would pay anywhere else to replace them (not to mention i've been looking and i can't find the suckers ANYFREAKINGWHERE around here...), AAAAND, since the band is selling them, the BAND gets the money, none of this shelling out extra cash for the middle man.
anyhoo... fantastic freaking set, jay only sang two songs, which made me sad ("lines you amend" and "false alarm"), andrew did three ("Sensory Deprivation", "People of the Sky", and believe it or not, "Before I Do"), and chris and patrick pretty much did the rest. chris cracked me the hell up, forgetting the words to underwhelmed, and other things.
met and chatted very briefly with jay, andrew, and chris afterwards, and though i hadn't even asked, chris grabbed my drumstick and signed it "chris m."... faetal had ended up with another one, and he signed that one "C. Murphy".
I also snagged a hidden flyer on the way out. the doorman applauded my ability to find it, because SO many people had been scaling the walls for one.
now to find room for it on my wall, along with my new Dark Crystal movie poster thingie i boughted today. and i suppose my roommate really wouldnt' mind if i moved my Ezra poster upstairs and hung something else a bit more... domestic... there ;)
anyhoo. alarm going off in a few hours for work.
