so i finally saw Revenge of the Sith, and was very pleased. it certainly made up for the last two, although anakin and padme's acting .... *violent shudder*

When Darth Vader puts his helmet on and helps him breathe, i can SORT of understand that the mechanism may make him have a different sounding voice. but is there something in there that makes him suddenly British?

darth vader sounds british to you?
Jun. 5th, 2005 04:15 pm (UTC)
well.. james earl jones sort of has this thing going on sort of similar to kelsey grammar that is a dignified haughty thing that makes him sound british, to me, though he is not TECHNICALLY british.

how come through out the movie the clones were the whole of the army, then, at the end, suddenly it is nothing but old british guys?

awww. so i guess that if i ever want to develop a really cool sounding voice with a dignified accent, i need to start hacking at younglings.

Uugh, I agree about the acting. X( Even Ewan McGregor was flat, and I love him...

haha, I didn't notice the accent when he put on the helmet.. I'll have to see it again and look for it.

it wasn't QUITE as drastic in ep III as it was when i came home and started watching ep IV.. cuz.. yanno.. i HAD to. ;)

yeah. i always did love obi wan. having ewan mcgregor play him just made it awkward because instead of looking at him like a dear old uncle, i sorta wanna DO obi wan.

but maybe that's just me.

suddenly british?

do you mean, the fact that they kept james earl jones' voice for Darth? Hayden demanded to still play Darth. Originally, Lucas wanted to the original Darth to come back on the set to play his famous part.

I hear Hayden has gotten really stuck up since all the SW fame.

egads. you get cast as one measly iconic GIANT, you get to throw tantrums to movie kings.

i could see him being a bit stubborn if he could actually ACT.
Jun. 5th, 2005 06:59 pm (UTC)
but is there something in there that makes him suddenly British And Black?

Yeah, it would've been better if he sounded more like himself (in ep. III) b/c then, you could've just attributed the EVENTUAL development of the british accent to his gradual change in personality (or coming to grips with what he's done to himself) over time - like, being more stifled and serious and whatever = british accent... hell, i dunno. *shrug*

ha ha, very very true!

you and i could philosophise! hell, we could philosophise or not philosophise for hours!

anakin and padme's acting .... *violent shudder*

Now be fair, They're both still about 3000% better than they were in "Send in the Clones" (*sings* where are the clones, there ought to be clones...). They must've spent every spare minute between the second one and this one taking acting lessons.
Sep. 13th, 2005 09:22 pm (UTC)
ha ha! i'm sure padme's had a lot to do with what she was GIVEN. i mean hell, the best actress on EARTH could never make 'oh anakin, hold me!' sound fantastic...
Jun. 6th, 2005 08:36 pm (UTC)
Oh man, I wanna see that! I heard it's really awesome! But yeah, I've heard that Hayden's and Natalie's acting needs some help in this movie!
Jun. 7th, 2005 02:42 pm (UTC)
Because he is a baddie not a goodie, and baddies sound english. Look at Disney, like in Lion King Scar sounded english.
Jun. 7th, 2005 04:20 pm (UTC)
ooh, you've most certainly got a point: so was Jafar in aladdin! i'm trying to think of others but am coming up empty minded.
Jun. 10th, 2005 01:55 pm (UTC)
What?!? Don't be knockin' my Natalie. She's a phenominal actress -- but no actor or actress can make up for Lucas' dialogue. Bah. *sticks tongue out at Lucas*

Have you seen "Where the Heart Is"? If not, do watch it, I've seen it at least 5 times and it's still interesting. Few movies have that power.

you kidding me? i freaking LOVE natalie, so i was not dissing HER, per se. only so much can be done with the way that the movie was written. i felt really sorry for her, really.
