new nickel creek release tomorrow, weee! i must go get. though in listening to the bits they've put up on www.nickelcreek.info, it seems like it's a VERY laid back album, very quiet, very much bathtub music. i loved what i heard, but i was hoping for more upbeat stuff like on This Side. i'll still buy it and listen to it gleefully, nevertheless.
thanks to their .info page, i was finally able to hear M.A.S. (the 'band' they put together with Glen Phillips from Toad the Wet Sprocket), and i REALLY liked that. in all of my searches, i've only been able to find that cd in a store ONCE, and it was like $20, so...
call me spoiled when it comes to cd costs.
and brosely squeed with glee (actually, it was more like an angry yell, but he was really happy, not angry) when he found out that nickel creek is playing the Roseland on his BIRTHDAY. freaking ROCK. the 6th and 7th of december. i would SO like to make it a point to go to BOTH of those, but definitely the 7th. i also love how they are playing the Roseland, which ironically is the first place that i EVER saw a live band perform in my LIFE, where i discovered not 10 seconds into the set that it was SO what i wanted to do when i grew up. (granted, i did this when i was 15 and it was still called The Starry Night.)
be a rock star.
speaking of, raygunzero asked if i would like to play DaDa again this year. quite tempting, though i'm not sure if it was a serious offer, or if it was polite drunkenness as we sat around the campfire, and i furrowed my brow at the guitar i was holding and wondering what songs i could play that didn't need the A string or a capo. i didn't come up with much. the capo is my friend. it is my luv-vah. but maybe an offer for an acoustical set will once again drive me to play and create serious stuff.
we shall see.
