it's sad that they moved, but if you're ever game to drive aaalll the way out there to see the new one, look me up, i'd be happy to go, too! i guess daniel is training at a target out there before he transfers to hazel dell. i'm so happy for him that he doesn't have to drive to bfe for work every day.

sidetracked!

what's funny is that there has been an alarm going off inside of michaels for THREE DAYS. now that they're not there and don't have real security, i guess no one cares if someone broke in the back anymore.

oh absolutely not. i have been trying all week to try to get my sleeping schedule back into whack for school on monday (which is difficult when i don't get off work or home until almost midnight.), but i still know that come sunday night, i'll be laying in bed freaking the hell out that it's almost 4 am and i still haven't fallen asleep.

My Michael's experience
I once tried to get a job at Michael's. I think it was roundabouts of 1997.

The woman on the phone was rude to me from the get-go, but I needed a job. I was glad to get a call-back about ANY of my applications.

I thought I was going in for an interview, but I was wrong. They just handed me a pencil and bubble sheet with a test, asking questions about if I'm going to steal shit or smoke weed at work or whatever. There was another girl there taking the test too. They told us to wait for about a half an hour while they scored the tests.

So I'm walking around the store and realize that 25 minutes have passed. I walk back to the area where they had given us the tests, and I hear a woman telling another girl to page me. The girl that was supposed to page me said, "Shallie? Lord, that's a name" like I had the plague or something. Defeated, I walk right up to the girl and say, "You don't have to page me, I'm Shallie." She looked like she had seen a deer in the headlights. They told me I hadn't passed their psychological exam or whatever, and I didn't have the job.

Looking back, it was a good thing that I didn't get the job. Based on the attitudes of those women, I think I probably wouldn't have liked working there anyway.

So, based on my story, how the heck do you "pass" that psychological exam at Michael's? I'm a very honest and trustworthy person, I don't steal or do anything bad, yet I "failed" it. :-)

You said that if co-work made you angry that you'd punch him/her. Didn't you? Didn't you?!?

You should've told them you couldn't work just yet. Now you'll never have a day off. Ohhhhh... that makes me sad. :(

I shop at Michael's so often that I'm always tempted to get a job there just for the employee discount, and the ones near me are always hiring. But I probably wouldn't get the job because I can't lift heavy stuff anymore (hernia from when I had surgery in 1999).

Mind you, after a year of being constantly frustrated at Michael's poor stock of knitting supplies, I've just discovered that JoAnns, which is far less convenient to get to, has everything I've been needing and going without for too long.

Michael's is still #1 for polymer clay, though. Especially when it goes on a good sale. But it's funny how the three stores close to me all have a different offering of polymer clay tools. I've noticed differences in other areas too...is it franchised?

hee hee, there's two things to be said about my user i.d. and real first name:

1) it's easy to make nicknames out of (aubasaurus! the aubernator! aub-a-roonie! aubalicious!)

2) with my user name, at least, it makes people think i'm a BOY. so many times, i've posted a picture here and someone that hasn't been on my journal for an extensive amount of time will reply "oooh, no offense, but i thought you were a man!"
