spent entirely too much money today: a new STURDY backpack, goblet of fire and order of the phoenix, pens for mom (and me)... lunch. dinner.

i need a sugar daddy. too bad i would never feel comfortable with that.

so ecstatic i can sleep in. three day weekend as far as school is concerned, though i work sat and monday. i actually have homework that i HAVE to do AT HOME for both classes, too, something i had yet to run into.

I got two new backbacks last semester - one for tuesdays and thursdays, and one for the rest of the week (to save me from subbing out books all the time). Thanks to Norton's Anthology of British Literature, The Riverside Chaucer, Invitation to Health, some stupid media book, and my laptop, my tuesday/thursday backpack was ripped to shreds within a month. The straps are all worn out and falling apart, it's ridiculous. Curse the sonofabitch who ever said students should have to carry their books to class.

It REALLY seems with the amount of technology we have at this point that when you enter school they should just REQUIRE you to buy a lap top, and then sell e-books of each of your required books at a discounted price... carrying a laptop and disks around would save the backs of of students, etc.. and if the books were discounted because of the cost of production differences (ie. a cd or dvd is probably less than ink, paper, and labor to produce the book itself) then the price of the laptop wouldnt be as prohibitive with all the savings.

eh, I'm probably wrong, otherwise it would have been done already, but it SOUNDS like a good idea.

of course they should... but publishers make massive profits on textbooks, and it's a captive audience!

Larrissa's and my books for this term together cost, are you ready? Yeah, $700. Jeepers.

maybe sometime in the future it'll become obvious that carrying that amount of weight on a students back is bad enough that there will be ... necessary measures taken.

it's weird, but some times it almost feels as if having a rolling backpack hurts my back more? maybe dragging something behind me to one side?

when i bought my rolling backpack, i added on a replacement plan that officemax offers for anything with moving parts - if it breaks in a year for any reason, i get my money back, and it was only $3. (the plan, not the backpack.) especially with how much pedestrianing i do and how much it will be raining now...
