another post that i have been meaning to ask you.

for those of you currently in school...

how many credits do you take each term? are you quarterly or semesterly? do you work AND go to school?

and what are you studying?

i've been thinking about this a lot lately and have been dying to ask yous, but keep forgetting to make the post when i'm actually at the computer.

At last a question I can answer.
I am a plumber at a major University. So I work and go to school cause I have to go to the school to work. As for credits well they give us very little credit. I usually study the figures on the girls as they walk around the campus. Sometimes I study a difficult plumbing problem.

I normally take 18-19 credits per semester, though I'm light this semester (only 15) 'cause they didn't offer enough in my major this term, and my electives are all filled.

I work about 6 months a year (which means a month and a half overlap at the beginning of the fall semester, and another month and a half - though I want to shorten it this year - at the end of the Spring semester). But I also work about 60 hours a week for those six months, so I feel perfectly justified in being a lazy bum for the other half of the year. :-P

I'm an English Literature major, which is actually the rarest among English majors. Most people study English Education or Writing, but I loooooove literature. :-)

your busy life never ceases to amaze me, woman. it always blows me away how much you're able to handle, especially combining althea, pregnancy, husband-having, working, schooling HARD... i tip my hat to you, missy. you're a true star.

I work about 50 hours a week, and take 6 cr hours (semester system). I tried to take 9 hours this semester, but I couldn't work the schedule correctly and still keep my job :)

got 2 straight A's in semester 1 back. So far, have two A's this semester too.

I'm a CS major, though I've only taken 1 cs class out of the last 4. haha. The other has been Govt Policy with Economic Theory, Global Connections, Probability and Statistics.. I'm not sure I should even count the "intro programming" class I'm taking. Since it'd be like you taking "intro to working at Office Max". haha.

bah ha, awesome. i commend you and your awesome grades. i wish i could stop whatever mentality barriers i've been having so i could start kicking ass again like i know i'm capable of. now i have to really bust ass in order to pass my music theory class, and if i fail that even a tiny bit, then my financial aid is over for reals this time.

I think you know most of this, but I'll answer the questions anyway...

I'm taking 15 credits right now, and I will continue to until I graduate in May of 2007. I used to take less, but now I'm to the point where I just want to get it over with! I'm also still working at coffee. I work on average 25 hours a week.
WSU has semesters, and I feel like I'm learning more than at Clark just because you can go so much more in depth in 15 weeks instead of 10.
And, I'm majoring in Human Development, and minoring in Sociology. Though I'm thinking about changing my minor to Psych because I hate the sociology class I'm taking right now. It sucks. A lot.

i've LOVED all the psychology stuff i've learned and it makes me sad that this will be the last class i can feasibly take in it, unless i change my major yet again. too bad i just can't go to school forever and learn until the cows come home!!

i'll still eventually transfer to wsu, but i'll get my associates in music first, my prereqs for nursing second, and then transfer.

if everything goes as planned. life has a silly way of throwing sticks in your spokes.

Accounting and I work full time at a bank...AND my school is an hour away.
I usually take 3(9 credits) classes, but 2 is way less stressful but then I feel lazy and that I'll never graduate at that rate.

I work full time and take one graduate class a quarter. The reading and workload is probably equal to 2 classes of undergraduate.

it's so very hard to do both. i find myself wishing that i could take like 20 credits of school and quit EVERYTHING else - band, work, etc., just so i can immerse myself and succeed, instead of having all this other stuff interfere. and if i were a smart girl, i would also seek out counselling so that i would be able to try to break down this dumb emotional hurdle i've had the last couple of quarters and be able to plow ahead and do good like i KNOW i can do.

Prior to this quarter I was taking about 15-16 credits each quarter, and for about a year of that I was working a little less than part time at a work-study job. Right now I'm taking 6 credits at WSU (semester) and 8 credits at Clark, but since the credit systems are different at both schools, this equals out to about 18 Clark credits. Luckily, I'm not working right now, as I'd probably kill myself if I had to try to do both.

I'm studying Public Affairs at WSU and thinking about minoring in either History or Sociology.

I take 16 credits per quarter minimum, but this quarter I'm doing 18. I work two jobs (20-30 hours a week, one on campus and one not). Studying whatever I want to... Evergreen's funny that way. I've been doing ethnography/sociology/anthropology, music, history, women's studies. Evergreen has a terrible reputation for being a flaky school but I spend easily 40-50 hours a week on schoolwork.

egads, i really need to start doing my freaking homework. i don't know why i have such an issue doing school stuff at HOME OMG.

seems clark is quite strict as far as what we take and don't take, which makes me feel like i'm walking on eggshells every time i register for classes.

i bow to you and your schooling prowess. i was thinking of attempting 15 or so credits next quarter, we'll see how that goes. and if i don't pass music theory, then i won't have financial aid so i won't be GOIGN next quarter, so....

I think you already know this, but...
Currently I'm taking 29 credits. And no, no work. If I worked, I'd go insane...well, more insane than I already am. Seriously, I think I'm losing it. This block needs to end right fast before I start drooling and punching puppies.
