being covered with hives from the waist down is the BEST. don't let anyone tell you that rainbows and kittens and raw chocolate chip cookie dough is the best, because it's truly HIVES.

let's hope that some claritin will rid me of the beasts, as i don't have anything else. i bathed and scrubbed, but they all just seem angry now, instead of soothed like i had planned.

My dermatologist/allergist says that really, nothing topical will make them go away sooner.

You can use a calming lotion to help deal with the itching, but until your system decides that the allergen attack is well and truly subdued, they'll stay there. :(

I've had antihistamine shots before to help, but mostly all it did was make me sleepy and itch a little less.

Eeep! Don't scrub.

Use a lukewarm oatmeal bath if you must, but hot water exacerbates it.

They'll usually take about 2 or 3 days to go away, sometimes longer if they're irritated.

The best thing you can do is take something with an antihistamine in it, and leave them alone.

I get these every now and again - my dermatologist says it's just an allergy that your body decided to deal with on the outside, and sometimes it's not because you touched something. It can be your normal allergies just acting up.

Cold compresses work for me. I used a washcloth with some cold milk on it one time, and that worked too, but water is just about as good, I think, but it might be worth a try on yours.

Hm, and if the Claritin doesn't make it go away away, it'll make you unconscious and it won't matter. Cos that little pill always put me right the hell to sleep. ^_~

They could be stress related. I used to get them when I was horribly stressed and depressed when I was 18.
