Hey Queer Portland!!!

USE YOUR LIPS
To defend queer rights

In response to the June 8th incident where 2 teenage girls were
kicked off the #12 Trimet bus and called "sickos" for kissing, the
queer community of Portland is uniting in protest. We are protesting
the driver's homophobic actions, and we are protesting Trimet's mild
response to the situation.

*********** The Great Kiss-In ************

Sunday, July 8th
2 pm
Outside of Trimet offices

(701 SW 6th Ave., b/t Morrison and Yamhill)

Come with your honey or come alone,

just come there and kiss someone!

If those two girls aren't lesbians and they were kissing merely for attention, then the driver did the right thing.

Regardless of the situation of the two people, the driver did the right thing. Even if they just got back together after one of them had been on a submarine for six months, they could have gotten it out of their system at the bus stop.

Re: issing b
It depends. Would he have thrown off a guy and a girl for kissing? I just realized that these were teenagers not adults (strange I'd not heard of this before), so it's possible. But if a guy and a girl had been kissing and would NOT have been thrown off the buss, then two girls kissing should not be thrown off the bus. Period.

How would the driver know this? And why should it matter, anyway? What if they were bisexual and not lesbian? Or they don't think along the terms of gay, straight, and bisexual and are instead fluid?

A man and a woman kissing would never be thought of as "trying to get attention". Why should two women (or men) kissing be thought of that way?

Also, I just realized that these were kids. If a guy and a girl would have been thrown off the bus, fine, but I find it ridiculous that two girls were thrown off the bus if a guy and a girl kissing would have been ignored.

Um, sure, provided that Trimet's conduct policy explicitly states that *anyone* who kisses "for attention" can be kicked off the bus--NOT only same-sex couples.

Kissing for attention would undoubtedly be dumb; but kicking people off a bus for doing so would be much, much dumber.

Don't you get tetanus if you kiss on a bus?

I'd be pants-shittingly surprised if the women in question weren't doing it to be noticed, either as fake bisexuals getting back at their father, or real lesbians trying to get in the news and succeeding.

Yeah, I'm going to reply to all your comments because I love to feed internet trolls
Yeah, because all same-sex couples exist only to get your attention. You're that important to each and every one of them.

BTW, I found this story on digg.com.

The story begins, "A transit chief apologized Wednesday to two teenage girls who were kicked off a city bus for kissing each other."

So, no protest required, unless you want to send the message "don't bother apologizing, our community is litigious and will crucify every isolated incident."

"our community"?
Wow, someone sounds bitter towards those who are attracted to their same sex (omg, i mean the Homosexual Species(TM), because obviously they're ALL the same people with ALL the same goals).

Did someone get judged negatively one too many times by them fags or something?

I would so go to this just to kiss women (named aubbs) however I'd feel I was morally obligated to do more.

This is outrageous the bus driver has no right to say or do anything, this is not school, this is not the city moral department its public property. Now, if they were licking each other's faces and didn't stop after a warning then I could see some action happening, groping something like that but a kiss?

Lets not forget also this article says they were called sickos that is unacceptable.
