What do you call those sleepy masky thingies that you wear to make your room dark? Methinks I needs one of them.

I just always thought they were called sleep masks.

I used to wear one. It made my face sweat a little, but it worked.

Thanks :) I'm poor until payday (next friday) but have some dough left on my Target card, maybe I'll go see if they have one there after work on Tuesday morning. Methinks they may help me sleep a bit more soundly, though I think that I'm too paranoid to comfortably wear one, i.e. always think someone is sneaking up on me.

Stupid, but it's true. That's why I couldn't listen to music in headphones while going to sleep, I always had a massive fear that someone would sneak up on me while I was dozing and couldn't hear them.

I can sleep to music in headphones, but then I'd end up getting the cable all tangled up or else breaking the headphones in my sleep. So then I couldn't sleep to them anymore because I'd keep waking up thinking I was going to break them.

They also make gel-filled sleep masks, you put them in the fridge and then you wear them to keep your eyes and face from getting puffy. But they feel pretty good otherwise.

In the summer I put tin foil in my windows to darken the room. It also keeps the room cooler and takes a couple of bucks off the electricity bill.

Your neighbors don't say anything?

Not at all. Even if they did I would just put black out film in the window which looks like reflective tint. A few of the neighbors have that. Blankets are put up on some and to me that looks kind of bad but what ever works.

They are called sleep masks. If you don't mind sleeping with anything that wraps around your head then it'll be useful.

And I didn't notice that someone had already answered the question. *facepalm*

That's what I put into the search area of Target's website, but it didn't pull up anything.

Odd.

I should send you mine, I can't seem to sleep with one of them. I've only used it once.

http://www.dreamessentials.com/ :) Let me know if you want mine though, it's been sitting unused for a year in one of my drawers.

Yeah, sure, if you no longer want it! I'm not afraid of potato cooties, anyway ;)

Aww, that would be sweet.

Figured they were always just called sleep masks.

I picked up some from my flight to Amsterdam... they're useful but I always woke up with them off or down around my neck, so I stopped wearing them.

I remember seeing them at Bed Bath and Beyond I think. And Fred Meyer's? In spa accessories I think. I'd been wondering if they'd work for me or annoy me, given that it's light until midnight now.

I try to have several of them around, for various reasons. Jason will wear mine, and it'll break. Or the cats will decide it's a toy, and lose it. I have purchased them from Bed Bath & Beyond, as well as Linen N Things. I have never noticed any at Target, WalMart, or KMart but I could have just missed them.

I don't know if LNT has them anymore, but I purchased a wonderful mini-pillow that it stuffed with herbs. It can be cooled or heated, and it has a very soothing smell. When I put it over my eyes, it just about covers me from temple to temple and is about 5 inches wide. If you can find one, it's even better than a sleep mask. And harder for a cat to hide.

Also, in a pinch, I've used one of those wide elastic hair bands. Sometimes they're cheaper (4 to a pack for $3 from T, W, or K) as opposed to the masks which can be $9 - $15.

The little pillow from LNT is a Herbal Concepts product - they are based out of Portland. Here's a link for a similar pillow:

It actually might be the same thing, but mine is solid black satin on one side, and flower embroidered cream on the other.

I thought they were just called "blindfolds."
