I never know whether to be amused or grossed the hell out when I flush the toilet and Bacci races over to frantically bat at what's going down the drain.

I would be a little bit of both, but then again I know how cats can be fascinated by just about anything. Try putting an ice cube in his/her water dish and see what happens.

Just slide an ice cube across the linoleum/vinyl/hardwood/pergo floor, they're entertained for hours.

But you end up with a watery mess everywhere.

It could be worse. He could have dog and have to keep him/her away from the litter box...

My dogs always get the funniest look on their face when they get in the litter box. Like we're forcing them to do it or something.

LOL. I can't imagine why. Some dogs actually love cat poop and will eat it like it is candy...

that's what toilet lids are for.

my kitten has sometimes watched the water swirl down the toilet when i was slow to maneuver...

Ever since I heard a strange thumpscrapegrowl come from the bathroom promptly followed by a cat with a sopping wet ass streaking through the house as a teenager, I've always put the toilet seat down after taking care of my business.

That made me LOL
You should be amused. It would amuse me.

Wait - you poop with the door open?

Re: That made me LOL
It's not that I poop with the door open, it's that the upstairs bathroom has her food dish in it and her litter box, so it's like she feels it's HER bedroom. She has also had this... weird... thing where she almost never eats unless someone is WATCHING her, so whenever I go upstairs, she races ahead of me and into the bathroom, to stick her face in her bowl.

Perhaps she's afraid of choking?

My cat watches flowing water in fascination. I close the bathroom door whenever I use the toilet so that she doesn't get dirty, and she yowls and yowls until I flush and open the door. I do let her watch me as I wash the dishes though. Once in a while, she will poke her head around the shower curtain when I am taking a shower.

I think a little of both would be appropriate.

"our" cat always follows us into the bathroom and sits and watches us do our stuff. Especially if we do stuff in the middle of the night.
