I discovered the other day that Gene Kelly was freaking AMAZING.

"Singing in the Rain" is one of my all-time favorite movies. ^_^

Just? GO rent "That's Entertainment" and see him and a whole bevy of dancing stars.

Gene Kelly was HOT too...

For what it's worth -- not to dismiss his accomplishments, but he had many peers who were fantastic dancers, who put him far to shame, but were never featured in major films as leads...

...because they were black.

There's a whole world of dance, some of it caught in lesser known films, some only available in clips from places like the library of congress, of absolutely fantastic performers. Electric dancer, that just make you stare...

If you like his work, you should do some research into the black dancers of the era.

I have recentlyish fallen in love with TCM and all the old classics, though it irks me how... I can't even think of the word that I'm thinking of. Basically, that the way things were filmed from the 20s to the 60s that had the perfect feminine white female, the perfect manly white male, the EXTREMELY stereotypical black and asian references... but still. Something to be loved about the classics.
