Okay, my lovelies, I need some more music to listen to while at work!!

Gimme your recommendations - this could either be by a list, or by youtube video, or yousendit.com, or... whatevah. My 2g mp3 player still has half a gig left and I'm out of ideas!!

- I do NOT like hip hop, R&B, rap, and most country.

- I need stuff with some energy to it, to keep the motivation running while moving at the speed of light.

- I prefer stuff that is available via Rhapsody, as I currently do not have a downloading forum on my computer. (Unless you wanna send it to me, of course! ^_^)

- I have a couple of specific bands that I would also like recommendations for, i.e. Muse, Ben Folds, *cough*Fall Out Boy *ahemtellanyoneyoudie* - I've found some stuff that I LOVE but am too lazy to dig into the depths of their stuff to find more.

I don't know if this fits your requirements, but Gogol Bordello is awesome and they are on Rhapsody

OMG FUN! I'm listening to them now, and they're SO going on my work mix!

How's your Jimmy Buffett collection? Quietly Making Noise, I think, is one you'd like. And most everything else on the Fruitcakes record -- Apocalypso, Delaney Talks to Statues, Vampires, Mummies and the Holy Ghost... :3

And while I'm at it, may I suggest Buddha Bomb as well as my lovely Curt? Much as I hate to link to you MySpace pages like that, they both have downloads enabled, so at least that's easy.

And for downloading, I actually use Limewire. I've found it to be pretty good, if a little frustrating at times. But I'm happy to upload some things to YouSendIt if you'd prefer. ^_~

Oh man. Seriously, I have HUNDREDS of CDs uploaded. Let me pick through a few of the most recent ones.

Def Leppard - Songs From the Sparkle Lounge (new Def Lep!)

The Cab - Whisper War (pop rock band that I like a lot)

Immaculate Machine - Fable (very New Pornographers/Neko Case)

The Dreaming - Etched in Blood (rock band started by the singer from Stabbing Westward)

Saving Able - S/T (new rock band that I kind of dig)

Endeavorafter - Kiss or Kill (another newish rock band)

1969 - Maya (one of Butch Walker's side projects ♥)

That should be a good start, eh? =) They're all on my private server, so right-click and save as.

And let me know if you ever want an invite to my seekrit music community. We have tons of stuff!

I find that screamo music helps keep me motivated and going. Don't know about anyone else.

I have no idea if these would be avalable but try:
armsbendback: the waiting room
.hopesfalls: No wings to speak of.

Regular stuff:
Semisonic, the best of
Kenna, album Make sure they see my face: Sun Red Sky Blue, Say goodbye to love, Out of control.
I think you'll like booth splender albums: To Whom it may concernt, and Half Way down the sky.
You can't go wrong with Bad Religion: Recipe for Hate
If you were a soulcoughing fan then Mike Doughty : Haughty Melodic will be awesome finally. If they have some independant stuff get this!

The Octopus Project Hello Avalanche

If you'd like to dance around the isles then think about:
The Vice Versa: Tango

Beirut: Lon Gisland EP
Beirut - Transatlantique

Artist: Album
Artist: song or Artist: album, song

You know if you knew FTP you'd be a bit close to golden with this list and if you ever wanted to know I could email you again.

Is there a way to share my Rhapsody list? 'Cuz I have that too!
Apr. 29th, 2008 01:28 am (UTC)
Somebody mentioned checking out pandora.com, put in Ben Folds and see what you get.

I'm a big fan of Imogen Heap, though she's not terribly high energy. If you're looking for music to trip out to (or in my case, to do data entry to), this is where to go.

Second the rec for Gogol Bordello.

And Fall Out Boy did a remake of "Beat It" featuring John Mayer. Tell anyone and YOU die. :)

Okay, this is a local band. Really good stuff. The band is called Kiddo
http://www.mediamax.com/dreamrot/Hosted/Okay Sweetheart/

(They did a really cool video for This Could Take Forever: http://youtube.com/watch?v=ZpSsty9duaA)

They share a bassist with Friendly Foes

Said bassist also does her own thing with Lettercamp
