Back from the dentist and everything is beyond groovy, apparently! He was extremely shocked to see what a beautiful "coral pink" my gums are, as most people apparently still have some redness and irritation at this point, with some possible swelling. So yay for exceeding with the healing! Woo! He said that pain is still expected at this point and gave me another prescription for Vicodin as well as some tips for taking Ibuprofin instead. He also said that my upper right one was a bitch to get out, which is why they didn't even touch the upper left one. They left that one in as it's never pushed past the gumline and is below the point where it should ever cause me any issues.

After the removal, I could feel the stitches in my two lower sockets, but the top right one felt smoooooth, if tender. A few days ago, it developed a weird nib. I thought it might be food particles, but it would never move and was extremely tender whenever I even thought of touching it.

Apparently, I've been carrying a giant piece of FOOD around in my empty tooth hole for like four days.

He removed it, and I have a shiny feeling crater, just like the other two, so it's business as usual!

I was a bit hungry but didn't feel like dealing with real food immediately before bed, so I'm having me some delicious chocolate Silk(tm) instead! MMMMMMMMMMMMMMM. I bought it on a whim and am so in love.

I used to get silk pretty often. I think I preferred the vanilla. I used to put it in my cereal I think and it made it sweet enough not to add sugar to cheerios etc.

I liked the vanilla, too, but for some reason, it made cereal taste really funky to me. It's awesome in coffee, though!

PS - I dreamed about you last night!

oh yeah? what did you dream :x

I dreamed that I was spending the night, as if we were teenagers and having a slumber party. you went to the store, and I was mortified that I got toast and bread crumbs all over in your bedding. You were picking up something really silly, like some Mad Dog 20/20.

omg crumbs in the bedding?!? how horrible. you shall never be invited again!

You never brought back the cheap booze! Some hostess you are!!

You're the one who woke up! If you had just kept dreaming maybe i would have come back with alcomohol and a hot guy to strip for us.

Maybe tonight, then.

maybe....or maybe you're not allowed to dream about me anymore.

Ibuprofin serves two purposes- pain relief and it also takes out some of the swelling that occurs.

I was on both when I had my wisdom teeth out, and it was smooth sailing.

Yeah, my dentist said that ibuprofen was the way to go, so I gave it a try - totally worked!

And now I have all this leftover Vicodin for other needs, should they arise!

OOOOH, I should try that sometime! Sounds very desertish!
May. 27th, 2008 04:28 pm (UTC)
Make that "dessertish"... I don't think that drinking super vanilla-ey soy milk would make you feel dehydrated, and as if you were standing in the middle of a dirt field surrounded by cacti.

That happened to me for the first YEAR after I got my WT out, and sometimes still does. It's gross, no?

But I LOVE those little portable flossy-pokey things they sell. You know, floss on one end and a sharp stabby thing on the other? Love 'em. Just be careful.
May. 27th, 2008 04:30 pm (UTC)
EEK! The whole idea of sticking a pokey thing back there still gives me the squeamies! The dentist gave me a nice curved syringe to help get rid of stuff, but I haven't had to use it yet. If nothing else, I can hang onto it and use it to medicate Bacci, should the need arise.

Oh the syringe is nice. You don't have to actually jam it in there... just get it close and use the water pressure.

Grossest thing ever: one of my incisions got infected. Let me tell you how GREAT that tasted.

Oooh, dry socket? A couple of my coworkers had that issue when they had theirs removed, and because of the lingering pain, I was afraid I had something that was wrong, too. I heard that there is an AWFUL taste in your mouth, like you drank a gallon of eau de dead raccoon.
May. 27th, 2008 04:41 pm (UTC)
Dry socket? I don't know. All I know is that I didn't realize that the fluid draining into my MOUTH was PUS until it was almost over. Thank god, or I'd have barfed right over my incisions. Grossest. Grossest. GROSSEST THING EVER.

OMFG. GAG. NOOOOO doubt, good thing you didn't know! I had a sneaky suspicion that I had weird stuff leaking the first couple of days, especially since I had constant liquid at the back of my throat and the papers they gave me warned against "oozing" for the first few days, since they were open wounds.
