Captain Kirk has entitled me with the duty of coming up with something creative to do for our store's holiday celebration. Any suggestions? This will be my sixth holiday season with the company, if we do something, this will only be the third time we've celebrated.

I know that we have an eclectic group of individuals - out of our fifteen employees, we have a Jehova's Witness, a Jewish individual, and a wiccan. I would like the excuse to get us all together - as we all get along splendidly and it would be an excellent excuse for us all to hang out outside of work. The only thing I can come up with is a Secret Santa - which has zero creativity and would immediately alienate a few people who don't celebrate THAT specific holiday.

So, um... my creative bunch - any ideas?

"White Elephant" gift exchange. it's even suckier than secret santa but without the xmas overtones.

At my work we have a potluck type thing, and then we have a table set up where people bring movies, CDs, books, and other things they don't use anymore and people can get new items. Maybe not very creative, but I always like it.

By new items I mean everyone just takes what interests them from the other stuff people bring in. Sorry, I don't tihnk I explained that clearly.

We used to do a fundraising campaign (bake sale, bottle drive etc) for a local charity, like a halfway house or homeless shelter, and then go bowling/skating/insert activity here as a get together. This way everyone was included, we helped out our community, and those who do not partake of Christmas could feel as if they could participate without compromising belief!

Either that or call the celebration something wacky like Christmaqwanzakkah and do something completely off the wall like a costume party where you have to come dressed like you are going to the beach or your favorite fictional character. Then you must come dressed as the Easter Bunny in a St. Patrick's Day outfit. :)

How about a "don't freeze your butt off" party, where you serve nice warming drinks like hot chocolate, and give gifts like knitted scarves, soft socks, etc.?

Do you have any ice skating rinks? Maybe you can rent one out for the evening and have a winter ice skate night. It's not really Xmas related for those who don't celebrate..
