amazing how things work out in the end...

so, i found out recently that a cute boy from school, one of the preppy boys that i had a miniature crush on until he became one of the group of boys that would chase me home by throwing rocks at me in the 8th grade...

.. i found out he died. apparantly, he became seriously involved in drugs and had a rough life before dying at age 25 or something like that.

i often wonder what happened to other people i knew in grade/high school and how they turned out.

i wasn't close to him by any means...

i can't find any info on it anywhere online, though, which i find odd?

that is sad huh. it's funny when you remember times and memories and what not and then you realize that that person just doesn't exist anymore.

lol - the only memory i really have of the guy is the rock-throwing incident, and THAT certainly wasn't pleasant!

it is weird, though!

i feel thankful, because i haven't really lost anyone.

course, that may not be a good thing, either, cuz i spose that the older that you get, the harder it is when someone finally dies off?

How odd. I'm sorry to hear about that.

True story that's vaguely similar: my friend Janets father once told us this story about a popular bully he knew in Junior High who tried to pick a fight with him. It turns out that after the attempted brawl, they became fast friends and were pretty close all throughout the rest of their school years. After that, they just lost touch for some reason.

Fast forward 20 years to a trip her father took to a nearby city. He's walking out of a gas station and here's someone calling his name in slurred speech. He turns around, recognizes the slurred name caller as his old friend, and they have a breif conversation. It turns out, his old friend became a junky, ran into some recent trouble with the law, had been divorced multiple times, and was drunk during their very meeting.

A week after their little reunion, her dad is flipping through the newspaper, and is astonished to read an article about a dead body found in a feild not far from the very gas station he attended a week ago - it was his old friend. He died choking on his own vomit, alone in a grassy feild.

you can go there and register for free and get some features but for the cool ones they want you to pay. but you can still see people from your high school.
I didn't want others to know who I was, so I said my name was gerrard lincon, and that after high school I'd joined the mob but then cut a deal with the government, and now I'm in the witness protection program. then I asked when the reunion was.
but it is interesting to see what some of those people are like now. in hindsight, I'm sure one of the most popular guys in the school was gay.
isn't it funny how high school puts you in such a caste system?

lmfao! of course you did! i would never expect anything less ;)

since i grew up in three main places and since i didn't technically graduate from a high school specifically (i graduated at spokane community college after completing all my courses...), i registered at a few different high schools awhile back. i had found out that my crush from iowa was in pre med, that my crush from kansas is living elsewhere in kansas with his wife and kids, and that an overly rotund classmate is still overly rotund, but has many many children now.

now that i've dug out my year book, i should look up more people ;)

*shrug* i didn't know him well at all. he may have been in my driver's ed class or something sometime in high school, but we never talked or anything.

the whole thing was just odd. when told, i had recognized the name, but couldn't place the face, so i pulled out my year book. his pic is right next to mine.

I went to my hometown for Xmas one year, & decided to look up a guy I had dated around age 12. I called his parents number, figuring they'd be able to tell me how to get in touch with him, since that's the only number I could find. His mom answered the phone.

ME: Is Jason there?
HER: You have the wrong number.
ME: Sorry about that.
HER: (pause) Wait. Jason who?
ME: Jason Hrabovsky.
HER: Who is this?
ME: My name is Alice, I dated Jason back when we were about 12, we hung out at the Y together.
HER: Yes, yes, I remember you, Alice. Alice, Jason died a few years ago.
ME: Oh. (pause) I'm so sorry to hear that, & for having bothered you.
HER: It's okay. Take care.
ME: You, too.

YIKES! Did *I* feel like an asshole. Can you imagine your somewhere around 18 year old song dying, & having someone call for him 6 years or so later???
